In Dallas for example, wireless technology is now being used to save lives. Electrocardiogram (EKG) units can now send the information straight to the hospital thanks to the wireless internet system. Now paramedics can hook up an EKG to a patient when they arrive and that information is transmitted back to the hospital immediately and be viewed on the doctor’s smartphones.
Because of this advance in technology, doctors can now properly prepare the right treatment as soon as the patient arrives rather than having to conduct the tests upon arrival which can waste valuable time. For those undergoing heart attacks, this is crucial technology that is saving lives on a nearly daily basis. Called “LifeNet”, this system now allows for potential victims of heart attacks to call 911 and trust that a correct diagnosis can be made rather than take the terrible risk of driving themselves to the hospital.
